Extension Passed for NFIP
Senate Passes Extension for the National Flood Insurance Program
Thursday, the Senate passed a
short term 60 day extension to the
National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), paving the way for a five-year program extension bill.
Senator Tom Coburn, R-Okla., is encouraging major changes to the current NFIP including phasing out government subsidized insurance premiums on vacation and second homes.
Now the bill goes back to the House for an approval on the 60 day extension, which is not guaranteed to be approved by the May 31 deadline.
